Historic Oxford bookseller Blackwells sold to Waterstones

Family owned bookseller Blackwells has just been sold to Waterstones. 

First opened in 1879 on Oxford's Broad Street, the Blackwell family have owned the business ever since and expanded to 24 stores, four of which are within Oxford. 

Tony Blackwell, the firm's president, recently commented to the BBC 

"This is a positive outcome for Waterstones, Blackwell's and all our customers in the UK and abroad, who will still be able to enjoy the individual nature of what both brands offer"
