Oxford becomes home to Europe's largest EV charging station
Pivot Power, in connection with Oxford City Council, Tesla Superchargers, Fastned and Wenea have just opened Europe's most powerful electric car charging station at Redbridge Park and Ride, to the Eastern edge of the city.
Oxford Mail reports today that the £41m energy hub at a Redbridge Park and Ride has room to charge 42 electric cars, and can recharge a car in 20 minutes. There is also said to be room for a further 400 charging points in total to help support Oxford City Council’s 2040 ‘net zero’ target.
Councillor Imogen Thomas, Cabinet Member for Zero Carbon Oxford and Climate Justice, Oxford City Council, has said: “Oxford has a history of being ambitious as we look to adopt new and exciting transport approaches in our city.
In order to achieve a Zero Carbon Oxford by 2040 we need to encourage uptake in electric vehicles, and drivers want to know that they can charge their vehicles quickly and efficiently. The completion of Energy Superhub Oxford is an exciting step for our city and the future of EV charging"
